Its been 3 days since ZEUS, a gorgeous 2 year old yellow Labrador, had his surgery. The product of a puppy mill he needs to have what is called Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) for Treatment of Ruptured Cranial Cruciate Ligament  – See more at: http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/help-zeus-run-again/96905#sthash.wDizDtG6.5P2XbO5N.dpuf

I created a Facebook page for ZEUS and worked on fundraising for him. It was an amazing process to see how people can come together to help out. I’d like to share some of the photos of ZEUS this week and thank  you all for your donations towards ZEUS. Dr. Mann said his Left leg was in rough shape and we have about 4 months and he is highly recommending that ZEUS’ Right leg be operated on. We will be fundraising for that procedure as soon as possible.

Here’s ZEUS

Day 1 after surgery

Day 2 with my foster family 🙂

Some post operation x-rays, they show the parts that have been put in to stabilize ZEUS’ knee/joints

Yes, I wear the cone of shame, but I also took my pink bandage off!

This is what A COMMUNITY can do when we all work together as a TEAM.

Thank you!

Unconditional Love

I have been finding other ways to help the rescue community after my recent set back with an organization who I once trusted, only to learn they abused their privileges in ways that make good rescues struggle to keep their good name.

I’ve been hosting fundraising events for a couple of animals. One is a Yellow Lab named Zeus; the other is Ella a cat.

ZEUS is set for surgery tomorrow for what is called a Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) for Treatment of Ruptured Cranial Cruciate Ligament  – See more at: http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/help-zeus-run-again/96905#sthash.aRLe2nwV.dpuf

I decided I wanted to help this sweet boy and put together a Facebook page for him called “Zeus the Yellow Lab” https://www.facebook.com/pages/ZEUS-the-Yellow-Lab/563807007002189?ref=hl and he has a YouCaring Page, where people can donate to. At present we are very very close to reaching his goal of $2,500. We need about $400 and his surgery is for Monday, November 18, 2013!

People commend me, say very nice things to me but I just feel that all animals deserve a chance and that is quite simply why I do what I have been doing.

Miss Ella is a very sweet 2 year old Birman/Ragdoll cross cat. She is very petite in size and stature. She is my cat and her veterinary costs in a very quick period of time have come close to $950.00. We have managed to raise $604 and have about $340ish to go. The illness they have thought she had/has is either she passed a kidney stone/crystal (her kidney enzymes were very high), her white blood cell count has been very high, indicating an infection and she ended up staying 3 nights with our veterinarian’s office.  Feline Leukemia and AIDS have been spoken about, but they have not done the testing for that at this point, they have wanted to attack her infection and go from there.

To read more on Ella you can go to her FB page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/All-things-Princess-Ella-A-cats-life/180768685448702 and if you wish to donate to her veterinary expenses you can do so at http://www.gofundme.com/558d3o

Ella, like ZEUS are both rescues, both have had hard starts in life, but both are resilient with determination and spunk, these furry babies really do know what it takes to be determined to have a good life. 🙂

How to help ZEUS

We’ve been hard at work for ZEUS, we know all of our followers are animal lovers too. We have more information to share with you all and we hope you will consider helping ZEUS.

Safe At Last Dog Rescue Society is an animal rescue organization in the Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada area that has been serving the needs of animals at risk since 2010. Our operation relies on the kind hearts of our volunteers and donations made by the general public.

Recently our organization took on a 2 year old Lab named Zeus. Zeus is in desperate need of some serious surgeries and medication for hip dysplasia to give him back a quality life without pain. Zeus is one of the rare cases where the costs of his needs put a great strain on our available finances. We are reaching out to our local community to ask for their help to give Zeus back the life he so desperately deserves.

You can help us by providing a donation to either our organization or directly to MENZIES PET HOSPITAL 604-792-3399. ZEUS’ veterinarian is Dr. Mann. If you are donating directly to the vet office, please leave a contact card so we are able to contact you privately. In addition to your donation receipt we would like permission from your organization to publicly thank you either on our Face Book Page or in the local news paper.

The above X-rays are of ZEUS’s Hips and legs.

Here are some new photos of ZEUS from our visit with him yesterday

ZEUS – The Golden Retriever

Zeus is a pretty special boy. He is with my amazing friends Safe at Last Dog Rescue. We have decided to take on this project of fundraising for ZEUS. We know what it is like to reach out our community and ask for help. Our sweet Lexi needed help for her surgery for removal of her bladder stones, and it was with the help of all of you, that gave Lexi her much needed surgery.

Lexi is now living an amazing life, with a great family, pain free.

Won’t you help ZEUS have that same opportunity?

Community Support for Oliver a.k.a. Buttons

We would like to thank everyone who has shared, “liked” and cared about Oliver and his cause.

For every dollar donated, helps to get Oliver his surgery and allowing him a chance to live a happy and healthy life.

Oliver had a rough start living on the streets of California.  He didn’t know where his next meal would come from, nor did he know where he would sleep.  Then to be picked up and put in a noisy high kill shelter, in a small kennel, surrounded by loudness of other dogs all desperate to find their forever homes
Our goal at Out of the House Dog Rescue, is to give Oliver every opportunity to know what love is and to start, we are raising funds for his surgery for his torn ACL.

Mama has been doing some really important stuff for our furiend Lexi lately. See Lexi has been very sick wif many bladder stones and bad teeth. Then when she went to have her surgery last Friday, the vet saw that she had more things wrong with her. Not only did she have 3 more stones in her bladder, but she also had a major infection inside her bladder from not receiving medical attention.

Without hesitation, mama set up a fundraising event for Lexi to be able to have her surgery as soon as possible. It was clear without doing something, Lexi could very well die.

Within a week, mama was over her original goal! Through the kindness of strangers and from the generosity of furiends all wanting to help get Lexi her surgery as soon as possible. Together, we all worked to share, donate and raise awareness of her plight.

Today her account was paid and what a feeling it is to know that all this hard work has paid off for Lexi. Who 4 days post surgery is doing much better than she was 2 days ago. She has moments when she feels like she is on top of the world, only to realize she can’t jump up onto the bed or go down stairs :).

She is starting to show signs of happiness and joy in her life. Sure it will be a few weeks yet, before she will be up for adoption, but we know when she will, she will find her furever home very, very soon.

Thank you, from the bottom of our furry hearts.

Wow! What an amazing few days it has been here at our house!

We hab 2 new furiends staying wif us. Momma has said that Lexi and Tika will be wif us for a while.

Some people’s were berry mean to Lexi and she needs to hab surgery to help her get better. So momma set up a fundraising page in her honor! How cool is that! She said it is berry important to be honest, to show people who Lexi is, what she needs to have done to feel better and we are eben including the veterinary’s office as well.

Momma says we need to give out a PAWSOME fank you to Rita the Naked Pit Bull she  will donate 1 pawographed 4×6 to anyone who donates $5 or more! LUBS yall & sharing is PAWESOME too! ♥

and to Auntie Helene of  Crochet Slippers by Helene who “will donate a pair of slippers (your choice of color) to anyone who donates $50.00 or more to help out Lexi. Thank you”

for their extra special support in helping our cause.

We also want to give a shout out to Dr. Sharma of http://www.ladnervet.ca/ and his staff, as they will be doing Lexi’s surgery!! They are very caring and supportive of our rescuing efforts and help take care of the dogs that come in from our transports. *waves* fank you Dr. Sharma, we lub you!!
